About us

Our round trip in the Caucasus was the ultimate motive for us to be among the first few in Hungary who ventured upon the carpet business  in the beginning of the nineties.

In the first years, besides everyday sale and purchase we were spending most of our time travelling.

Delicate pieces of our gatherings we always laid aside and only the ones ranking behind were offered for sale. This method provided the basis of our collection that is still growing and being refined these days.

1996 was a vital year in our business. Reorganizing our venture we have founded the Oriental Carpets Gallery and established our first exhibition hall on the first floor at Váci street 9, Budapest. In the first few years we offered antique oriental carpets only. After some years, analizing market demands we have improved our collection with new and modern carpets. When choosing new carpets after careful selection we have always insisted on the guiding principles provided by antique carpets, we have been searching tradition in the new and quantity has been of secondary importance to quality.

With this concept in mind we have established a collection most individual, most unlike to the usual, and we have kept ourselves to this guiding concept up to the present day.

From the beginning of the new century we have presented the finest pieces of our antique carpet collection at the Budapest Antique Interior Exposition to the full content of collectors and merchants as well.

Our company is often commissioned to furnish high standard flats and to assort collections. For such tasks we often make use of the professional guidance of famous interior architects, interior decorators and designers.

Year after year have passed by and our store and exhibition hall at Váci utca 9, Budapest have become too small for our purposes, for this we have moved our headquarters to Váci utca 52, Budapest in November 2005.

All the advantages of our new store that is open to the street, the changes in the structure of the market as well as the responses from our customers demanded a continuous improvement of the selection of our goods. After decorative pillow-cases, bedcovers, pashmina scarves and stoles, in 2006 we have enriched our selection with individual kilim-bags and small furnitures (chests, stools, benches), jewellerys, oriental styles lamps, and hand painted ceramics. Of course we adhere ourselves to our original philosophy of offering individual high-class goods at decent prices.
