Afghan rugs are easily recognized by their typical characteristic patterns including the Göls and
octagonal pattern. Many patterns and colors are used, but the traditional and most typical is that of the
octagonal elephant's foot , often with a red background. The primary colours are dark red in different
nuances.The weavers produce different accessories of the nomadic lifestyle, including tent bags, tent
entrance hangings, main carpets, tribal pieces and ceremonial pieces. Pile, warp and weft consists of
wool, goat and sometimes also horse hair. Afghan rugs are prized for their high quality and fine
